Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has stressed that the nation's development must translate into tangible benefits for Malaysians at every level of society, with particular attention to rural and underserved communities.

Speaking at a gathering with fishermen, farmers and residents at Pantai Leka Food Court in Muar on June 15, Anwar emphasised that the government's expansion agenda cannot concentrate solely on grand infrastructure and technological advancement. Instead, development must be experienced directly by those who depend on agriculture, fishing and small-scale enterprises.

"Leadership requires the willingness to understand the challenges faced by those in lower economic positions, and to articulate their concerns within government structures," Anwar said. He called on Cabinet ministers and political figures to engage regularly with communities to address grievances and ensure equitable service delivery.

While acknowledging the importance of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and digital innovation for long-term competitiveness, Anwar reiterated that the MADANI Government prioritises improving livelihoods in rural areas. He noted that government agencies must channel social support and targeted assistance more effectively to reach intended beneficiaries.

Anwar underscored that responsible governance demands the courage to champion disadvantaged Malaysians and guarantee that modernisation benefits are distributed fairly across all segments of the population rather than creating winners and losers.
