Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on the government to prioritise attracting foreign investment and developing artificial intelligence and quantum computing capabilities, steering clear of distracting political squabbles. Speaking at a PH Grand Rally "Justice for the People of Johor" in Muar on June 15, the PKR President emphasised that these technological advances are essential for Malaysia's competitiveness and the wellbeing of future generations.
Anwar outlined recent government initiatives aimed at bringing AI-related investments and data centres to Malaysia, alongside efforts to explore quantum computing technology following his Japan visit. He stressed that technological progress must supersede the endless cycles of political infighting that have long characterised national discourse. "If politics is just about fighting day in and day out over Chinese, Malay, Indian, temples, and mosques, just endless bickering, when are we going to take care of this country?" he asked.
The Prime Minister urged all Malaysians—regardless of ethnic background—to unite behind the nation-building agenda. He pointed out that Malaysia's growing international reputation means potential investors are actively seeking opportunities in the country without extensive promotional campaigns. "Rise up Malaysians - Malay, Chinese, Indian - work together, build this nation, elevate this country into a great nation, because we can do it," Anwar said.
Anwar, also PH Chairman, reminded political leaders and party officials to prioritise the people's genuine development needs over exploiting divisive sentiments. He stressed the importance of leaders listening to citizens' concerns and rejected tactics that foster hatred between communities. "Think about what will happen to our country," he cautioned, highlighting that successful politics requires public engagement grounded in constructive problem-solving rather than inflammatory rhetoric. PKR Vice-President Datuk Seri Dr. Zaliha Mustafa and Johor PH Chairman Aminolhuda Hassan were also present at the rally.
