US returns eighth-century Buddhist statues to Indonesia in landmark cultural repatriation
The United States has repatriated two eighth-century bronze Buddhist statues to Indonesia, recovered through an investigation into illicit antiquities trafficking by notorious dealer Douglas Latchford. The statues were formally returned during a ceremony at the Indonesian Consulate in New York.
